Personality is like an iceberg....one sees only one tenth whereas nine tenth is beneath water. Still we claim to know a person thoroughly. Sometimes, it takes years to understand behavioural pattern of a person. So, take your time for making realistic and objective assessment about a person. But at the same time, one should not try to find intentions behind the mistakes of the other person. Normally, it gives birth to bias in our thought process. We should give benefit of doubt generously.

  1. I think ... one should try to find intentions behind the mistakes of the other person ... only if the person is close enough. Definitely we should give full benefit of doubts ... but trying to understand someone's actions helps develop the relationship of the long term.

  2. Getting to know the reason behind a persons action helps to understand the behavioural pattern of him/her,& also to knw him/her much better as a person.this is of the utmost importance as our actions make us what we are.
also benefit of doubt should be given only in one condition...i.e. when in doubt, not always.coz excess of anything is bad & also the person will stop taking us seriously.
thus if we get to know the reasons we may help the person to become a better person,(if he's on a wrong path)or we can learn from him how to be a better person(if the person is on a good track).
just one last statement-to feel the pain of a mother be a mother,to feel the pride of a father be a father & to catch a criminal think like a criminal.
